Conway’s tenure marked by winery sales, dropped contracts, tasting room closures, and a reduction-in-force. Only time will tell if he was able to right the ship.

Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE) CEO Shawn Conway has left the company to lead Far Niente Wine Estates. Conway spent two and a half years at SWME after being hired in March of 2023.

“Over the past two and a half years, Shawn has played a pivotal role in guiding the company through a significant transformation – refining and refocusing our acclaimed wine portfolio and strengthening Ste. Michelle’s deep roots in the Pacific Northwest,” SMWE said in a statement to Northwest Wine Report. “We thank him for his leadership and contributions during this important period.”
